Helping 83 students create life-long musical friendships and memories

The Mission

Launch NEC Prep’s first international orchestra summer program, the Summer Orchestra Institute.

It was NEC Prep’s Dean and Director’s vision to host an international orchestra summer program at NEC Prep. They needed someone to be in charge of operations and student life.

Lisa’s Impacts

  • Created the application form using Embark.

  • Managed all recruitment efforts and incoming applications.

  • Managed external partnerships including Temple Music Prep and Youth Orchestra Lost Angeles (YOLA).

  • Made recommendations on acceptances.

  • Served as the main point of contact and managed communications for all students, families, and faculty.

  • Designed the daily schedule with the Dean and Director of NEC Prep.

  • Contracted all faculty and hired college student assistants.

  • Supervised boarding students including the college student assistants.

  • Curated extracurricular activities, including a field trip to Tanglewood.

  • Oversaw success of daily operations.

Outcomes

  • Successfully recruited 55% over the intended goal (accepted 83 students from 18 states and 5 countries).

  • Set the ground for the following year.
